Carol facilitated two workshops for our staff. We learned in greater depth about the sensory system, useful techniques to soothe and activate our sensory system, and activities which we implement daily to allow our students to remain attentive and focused throughout the day.

The Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center is a wonderful resource. ASDEC has trained our staff in both language arts and math reinforcing our multisensory instruction through creative methods and strategies.

At Diener we incorporate social thinking into everything we do. We use Michelle Garcia Winner’s social thinking curriculum as a guide for daily instruction and social skills groups.

The Virtues Project
At Diener we strongly believe in the importance of character development. With this in mind, all staff have been trained by Dara Feldman, facilitator of The Virtues Project. It is empowering and wonderful to observe our faculty and students as they view themselves and others with strong virtues.

Fountas and Pinnell
All teachers at Diener have been trained by Fountas and Pinnell specialists. We use Fountais and Pinnell assessments and leveled books as a part of our language arts program.

Calvert Math
Many students use the Calvert Math program for math instruction. Calvert is a guide for Diener teachers and all lessons begin with concrete, hands-on math instruction and move to more abstract once skills are understood.
